Synopsis

Kevin Newkirk is the son of an old-money Boston family. He is also the last male in the line and is in need of a suitable wife to provide him with a son. He is in love with Jeannette but cannot marry her as her heritage is questionable.Bridgewater Chronicles

Cordelia Crowley is the daughter of a hardworking tailor and his seamstress wife who live on Staten Island, NY. Cordelia is the embodiment of Mrs. Crowley’s desire to become a ‘lady of quality’. She has turned down several suitors who were eminently suitable but whom she did not love.

Fate brings the two together at during a weekend at the Buttermilk Bay summer home of the Newkirk family. Cordelia goes as her brother’s guest when his wife is unable to attend. Kevin sees in her the answer to his dilemma – she is pretty and available. Cordelia sees in Kevin the means to fulfill her mother’s burning passion.

Will their marriage be a success? Will Cordelia provide Kevin with the male heir he needs to carry on the Newkirk name? In so doing, will she become the ‘lady of quality’ that her mother desires her to be?

The Bridgewater Chronicles is set in the fictitious town of Woodhaven, Connecticut where the young Newkirks establish their estate home on three-hundred acres of forested land.

Readers are invited to follow the story of the Newkirk family from the opening scene in 1890 through to its conclusion in the current era.
